General Rate Increase – Peak Season

With the lead-up into the peak season, with demand outstripping supply, and causing vessel space to tighten up. Shipping lines have advised of a general rate increase for the carriage of import cargo for southbound shipments to Australia. The increase is set to be double the current ocean freight rate is expected to be at highest level that we have seen for quite some time. We are expecting the rate increase to be effective for all shipments departing southbound from early October 2017. These rates are likely to last until the peak season moves past the Christmas period.
